This Privacy Policy explains how Pixel Theory Inc. (“Pixel Theory,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, protects, and shares information in connection with our marketing services and our client analytics platform, Pixel Lens Analytics (the “Platform”). It applies to our website at https://thepixeltheory.com (the “Site”), the Platform, and the data we process on behalf of our clients.
If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@thepixeltheory.com or at the address listed in the “Contact Us” section below.
1. Who We Are
Pixel Theory is a digital marketing agency. We plan, run, and report on advertising and e-commerce performance for our clients. As part of these services, we operate the Platform, which consolidates each client’s marketing and commerce data into unified reporting dashboards.
In most cases we act as a data processor (or “service provider”) that handles data on behalf of, and under the instructions of, our clients, who are the data controllers of their own business and customer data. For information we collect directly through our Site and for our own business records, we act as the data controller.
2. Information We Collect
a. Information you provide to us. When you contact us, request a proposal, sign up for the Platform, or correspond with us, we may collect your name, business name, email address, phone number, and any information you choose to share.
b. Information we collect automatically on our Site. When you visit the Site, we may collect standard log and device information (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring URLs) and use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and to operate the Site. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
c. Client marketing and commerce data processed through the Platform. On behalf of our clients, and only with their authorization, the Platform connects to third-party advertising and commerce systems and retrieves aggregated performance and reporting data, such as:
- Google Ads — daily advertising performance metrics (cost, impressions, clicks, conversions, conversion value) at the campaign, ad group, and ad level. We retrieve this data on a read-only basis and do not create or manage campaigns through the Google Ads API.
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregated website session and traffic metrics (sessions, users, traffic source, device category, and similar dimensions).
- Meta Ads — aggregated advertising performance metrics comparable to the above.
- Shopify — order, product, and customer summary data used to calculate revenue and return-on-ad-spend metrics.
We retrieve only the data necessary to produce reporting dashboards. We do not request or store advertising audience lists, and we do not use this data for any purpose other than providing reporting and analytics to the client to whom it belongs.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Platform and our marketing services;
- Generate reporting dashboards and analytics for the relevant client;
- Respond to inquiries and communicate with you about our services;
- Operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Site and the Platform;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use client marketing or commerce data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing services to the client who owns that data.
4. Google API Services and Limited Use
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We access Google Ads and Google Analytics data only to provide reporting and analytics features visible to the client who authorized the connection;
- We do not transfer or sell this data to third parties for advertising, resale, or other unrelated purposes;
- We do not use this data for serving advertisements; and
- We do not allow humans to read this data unless we have the client’s consent for specific support purposes, it is necessary for security or to comply with applicable law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only as follows:
- With the client who owns the data, through their reporting dashboards;
- With service providers (such as cloud hosting and database providers) who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations;
- For legal reasons, when required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Pixel Theory, our clients, or others;
- In a business transfer, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.
6. Data Security
We protect data using administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity. Third-party platform credentials (such as OAuth tokens and API keys) are stored encrypted in a dedicated secrets vault, are accessible only to authorized backend systems, are never exposed in our web interface, and are never logged. Access to client data is restricted to authorized personnel and is segregated so that each client’s data is visible only to that client and to the Pixel Theory staff who manage their account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect information using industry-standard practices.
7. Data Retention
We retain client reporting data for the duration of our engagement with the client, and as needed to support historical (for example, year-over-year) reporting. We delete or de-identify client data upon client request or following the end of the engagement, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations. Site and business-contact information is retained as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, or to object to processing or request portability. Because we often process data on behalf of our clients, requests relating to client-owned data may be directed to the relevant client; we will assist our clients in responding to such requests. To exercise any right, contact us at privacy@thepixeltheory.com.
9. International Data Transfers
We are incorporated in the State of Delaware, United States, and may process information in the United States. Where applicable, we take steps to ensure that transfers of personal information comply with applicable data protection laws.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Site and the Platform are intended for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate.
